The concept of futility and man’s absurd situation of existence without purpose fascinates and inspires me. It is something that affects all of us. Everyone has at some point wondered ‘why we are here’; but this question is so huge one has to disregard it to function in society.

This absurdity can be applied to almost every aspect of human existence: Why do we work? Why do we play games? Why do we create? Why do we fill our time in the many ways that we do?

I am interested in embracing this situation, through dealing with issues of authenticity, originality and replication.

A  journey through the literature of Albert Camus, Samuel Beckett and Franz Kafka has led me to think about certain art forms in a new context; perhaps different from their original intention. The iconic work of filmmakers Andrei Tarkovsky, Alfred Hitchcock, Buster Keaton, Sergio Leone, Antonio Mercero, Quentin Tarantino, numerous other pop-culture influences and fine artists Frank Mouris, Thomas Demand, Chapman brothers, Julian Opie, Phil Mulloy and Bruce Nauman are a few names that have contributed to my influences.
